FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: dispersion is done from an emitter at corresponding potential of the collector which in a plane perpendicular the emitter. The emitter-collector system is made such that both can rotate in the vertical plane with centre of rotation of the collector at the point where liquid is dispersed from the emitter. The emitter-collector system is first rotated in the vertical plane and aligned such that the dispersed stream is directed vertically up. The distance between the emitter and the collector is then adjusted until speed of liquid particles directed up falls to zero, and the distance between the emitter and collector is then determined. The whole system is then aligned horizontally and position of the central flow particle on the collector (position of the centre of flow) is marked, at distance between the emitter and the collector less than in the initial state. The system is then turned 180°, with constant distance between the emitter and the collector, and the new position of the centre of flow is marked and the distance between the initial and new position of the centre is determined, value of which corresponds to double shift of the stream in the gravitational field 2Δy. The stream is then exposed to a magnetic field and the conditions or Δy=0 are achieved. Characteristics of the particles of the stream are determined from the measured parameters.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining characteristic parametres of particles dispersed in an electric field, without introduction of disturbance in the dispersion process.
