TIGHT CASE FOR STORAGE OF SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC G21F5/08 

FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: ampoules with bundles of fuel elements are loaded in case for further long-term dry storage in stationary depositories of spent nuclear fuel. Tight case comprises body with central pipe and cover with load gripper, valve for filling of case with storage medium and tightness control and grid with cells for installation of spent fuel assemblies. Load gripper is arranged on case cover in the form of central cap and duplicating gripping collar along cover periphery. Ball lock is installed in cap with the possibility to hold case by central pipe. Valve for draining and filling of case with storage medium is arranged in central cap of cover. Control of ball lock and valve is carried out with the help of control rod-plug in cover cap. Case sealing is done through welding of central cap edges and control rod-plug. Grid is made in the form of set of disks with coaxial holes. The latter produce cells for installation of spent fuel assemblies on vertical stands. Distance between stands provides for installation of ampoules with specified unevenness.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase reliability of transportation, to tighten placement of cases and to provide for possibility of periodic control of case condition.
