Method includes periodical exhaust of gas mixture in portions to lower layers of water area. Gas mixture contains hydrocarbon compounds with oxidant, for instance: methane, propane, acetylene, finely dispersed oil products, together with oxygen or gas that contains it, for instance: air.

EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of ice cover breaking.
