FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steam screw-type machines used, for example to drive electric generators. Machine comprises high-pressure housing (HPH) 1 with intake branch pipe 2 to feed high-pressure steam, low-pressure housing (LPH) 3 with discharge branch pipe 4 to force steam out, drive and driven screw rotors 5 and 6 fitted in parallel in HPH 1 and LPH 3 and running in bearings 7 arranged in pairs. Aforesaid rotors are coupled by meshed synch gears 9 furnished with balance pistons 10 fitted in bores of HPH 1 to form balance chambers 12 communicated with discharge branch pipe. HPH 1 and LPH 3 are coupled by centering bottom 13 arranged along the high-pressure of rotors 5 and 6. Exhaust branch pipe is attached to bottom of LPH 3. Balance chambers 12 communicate with exhaust branch pipe 4 via channels communicating with bottom openings of balance chambers 12.
EFFECT: simplified start/stop of steam screw-type machine.
