FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: screw-type steam engine includes high pressure housing (HPH) 1 with inlet branch pipe 2 for supply of high pressure steam, low pressure housing (LPH) 3 with outlet branch pipe 4 for discharge of waste low pressure steam, drive and driven rotors 5, 6 which are parallel installed on pedestal bearings 7 arranged in HPH 1 and LPH 3 in pairs, connected to each other by means of synchronising gears 9, having in their middle part the screw teeth being engaged, and equipped with pair end seals 11 and unloading pistons 12 arranged in HPH 1. End faces of pistons 12, which face screw teeth 10, are interconnected with inlet branch pipe 2. Opposite end faces are interconnected with outlet branch pipe 4. In addition, in HPH 1 and LPH 3 there installed between pedestal bearings 7 and end seals 11 are diaphragm seals 18 with formation of gaps 5, 6 with rotors and cavities 19 with end seals 11, which are connected to atmosphere by means of drain branch pipes 20.
