FIELD: aircraft engineering, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: in visually judged landing on unfamiliar unbuttoned airfields, first, aircraft altitude is determined on onboard radio altimetre and human visual perception is used. Pilot determines slant range, in selected glide points, to runway start using artificial datum objects arranged on both sides of runway in its end. Said objects consists of N-binary patterns with periods of 4·10-4·li, where li is measured slant range to datum object. Slant range reached, pilot makes conclusion when strips of i-th pattern are observed separately.
EFFECT: accurate landing on unbuttoned airfield.
