FIELD: nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method of purifying artifical ruthenium from radioactive isotopes 106Ru relates to nuclear power engineering and technology of radioactive elements. Technetium powder, which contains not less than 70 wt % of a fraction with particle size of not more than 100 mcm, is mixed with powdered nuclear-inert filler which is weakly activated with neutrons. A heterogeneous transmutation target with volume content of filler of not less than 15% is made from the mixture, after exposure of which the filler is removed together with nuclei of radioactive 106Ru flying into it from particles of the formed Tc-Ru alloy. Maximum positive effect is achieved when using technetium powder with particle size less than 5 mcm, which corresponds to complete output of the 106Ru isotope from the powder particles to the filler.
EFFECT: significant cutting on holding time of artificial ruthenium after exposure before practical use, simplification and reduction of cost of its production. 1 dwg.
