FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to abrasive production. Essence: each abrasive grain is imparted circular rotation simulating abrasive tool rotation and cuts a track of notches on the surface of tilted sample being moved at right angle to grain rotation plane. On the notch track of the sample, the notch on which grain chipping has occurred and subsequent notch are selected. Then following parametres are measured: the length of the notch on which chipping has occurred; the length of subsequent to chipping notch; the distance between the notches. From these parametres the magnitude of grain chipping wear is determined by formula.
EFFECT: increase in grinding efficiency due to determination of additional grain performance characteristics.
