FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to exploration geophysics, specifically to devices for producing seismic signals, and can be used in oil and gas seismic prospecting. The Sibiryak source is a linear type device with at least two separate working volumes of compressed air, which are simultaneously opened through a trigger - electropneumatic valve. The ratio of the upper and lower sealing diametres of the valves of the pneumatic chamber increase linearly from top to bottom of the head pneumatic chamber. A high-power seismic signal forms in the medium. Transmission of the power pulse is matched with the value of contact-sealing pressure in the chambers of the source.
EFFECT: generation of a high-power seismic signal when working inside wells using a vertical seismic profiling (VSP) method and provision for stable synchronisation of the discharge time of the pneumatic chamber of the source upon instruction by the trigger of the electropneumatic valve.
