FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for synthesis of a novel compound - spiro[4,3]octan-6-ol of general formula (1) . The method involves reacting methylenecyclobutane with triethylaluminium (AlEt3) in the presence of a zirconocene dichloride catalyst (Cp2ZrCl2) in molar ratio methylenecyclobutane: AlEt3: Cp2ZrCl2=10:(10-14):(0.4-0.6) in an argon atomosphere at room temperature and atmospheric pressure in hexane for 4 hours, with subsequent addition to the reaction mass at -15°C of a copper chloride catalyst (CuCl) in equimolar amount to Cp2ZrCl2 and ethyl formate in threefold excess with respect to AlEt3, after which the reaction mass is stirred at room temperature, with subsequent alkaline hydrolysis of the reaction mass.
EFFECT: method can be used in fine organic synthesis, in production of paint materials, highly efficient antiscoring and antiwear additives to oil, as well as biologically active substances.
