FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for quantitative analysis of polysulphons in sulphur before degasation process is performed, and in commercial sulphur obtained at gas processing plants, after degasation. According to invention, method includes extraction of fixed and free sulphurated hydrogen with organic solvent, blowing off free sulphurated hydrogen with inert gas, submersion of operating and additional electrodes, comparison electrode to solvent and base electrolyte, which are located in cell for electrochemical tests, introduction of sample of extract of polysulphons from sulphur and determination of polysulphons concentration. At that, as working curve, there taken is cyclic voltammetrogramme of electrochemical oxidation of polysulphons within range of potentials of -0.5V to +2.0 V, anode peak value is measured as to current at potential of +1.5 V, which characterises process of single-electron oxidation of polysulphons in organic media, and concentration of polysulphons is determined based on calibration dependence of anode peak height as to current on concentration of polysulphons.
EFFECT: invention provides increase of accuracy for determining concentration of polysulphons (fixed sulphurated hydrogen), reducing the time required for analysis and providing the possibility of determining content of polysulphons in presence of free sulphurated hydrogen.
