FIELD: measuring techniques.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to induction logging. A formation-well model with a set of parametres is selected. The set of parametres contains an eccentric direction of the device. Initial values for the set of parametres are determined. The expected characteristics for the set of probes selected from several probes of the induction device are calculated. Calculation is based on formation-well models. The expected characteristics are compared with real characteristics for the selected set of probes. Values of the set of parametres are corrected if the difference between the expected characteristics and real characteristics is less than a pre-defined criterion value. Calculation, comparison and correction are repeated until the difference between the expected characteristics and real characteristics is less than the pre-defined criterion value. The well effect is determined from final values of the set of parametres.
EFFECT: improved correction of well effect during use of instruments with a transverse probe.
