SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electronic road toll collection system for drive ways and its functioning process. In each mobile radio communication network, data of corresponding radio cells are transmitted to a radio telephone through an organisational channel. The information delivered by stationary radio stations is used to register road toll collection system for a radio cell passed by a client in a radio telephone. Data collected together are transmitted to the central post of the road toll collection system. Based on the sequence of passed radio cells transmitted by a terminal client device which is subject to paying for the road toll, it can be accurately determined which transport route, taxable by the road toll, was used by the transport by comparing a data bank available in the transport route.

EFFECT: collecting road toll using available mobile wireless communication systems and standard GMS/UMTS mobile telephones of clients or comparable devices such as PDA (personal digital assistant), automobile radio telephone or others, with a GSM function without altering software.
