FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-voltage insulators. The high-voltage insulator for fastening a high-voltage wire in an electrical installation or on an electric power line has an insulation body, first and second reinforcement elements fitted at its ends, one of which serves for connection with the high-voltage wire, and the second - with a transmission pylon. The insulator is additionally fitted with a multi-electrode system (MES) consisting of 5 or more (preferably 100 or more) electrodes which are mechanically connected to the insulation body. The insulator also contains first and second lead-in electrodes, each of which is separated by an air gap from the insulation body and connected by one end galvanically or through the air gap to the first or second reinforcement element, and by the second end through the air gap to the first or second end of the multi-electrode system. Electrodes of the multi-electrode system and lead-in electrodes are made and fitted such that, when there is overvoltage on the insulator, the air gaps between the lead-in electrodes and the outermost electrodes of the multi-electrode system are broken down, after which discharge gaps between electrodes of the multi-electrode system are broken down successively. The insulator has properties of a lightning protection device (lightning arrester). The multi-electrode system lies on an equipotential line or equipotential lines of an electric field at industrial frequency, in which the insulator operates, perpendicular to the leakage path of the insulator.
EFFECT: design of a reliable insulator with properties of a discharger, which is cheap to make and use.
