FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for overvoltage protection of dischargers. Encapsulated spark gap comprises twp main opposed electrodes (2, 3), metal outer casing 1 at least one starting electrode, gas or plasma cooling chamber enclosed in metal outer casing 1 and connecting terminals 27 arranged on the end face for connection of aforesaid electrodes (2, 3). Coaxial-structure chamber consists of inner 14 and outer 15 cups. One of the main electrodes represents a hollow cylindrical blowoff electrode 3 that enters said inner cup 14. Open surfaces of said cups accommodates support ring 12 embracing blowoff electrode 3 on its side. Aforesaid compression proof support ring 12 is jointed to outer cup 15 with force or form closure. Coaxial structure outer cup 15 has lateral gas escape holes. At least one channel 17 is arranged between aforesaid inner and outer cups to cool gas, while slot-like channel 18 is arranged between outer wall of outer cup 15 and inner wall of outer casing 1 to this very purpose. Said gas cooling channels feature, on the whole, a meander shape.
EFFECT: higher resistance to impact current, higher reliability of ignition and fast cooling if exhaust gases.
