METHOD OF ACOUSTIC-EMISSION CONTROL OF RAILWAY WHEEL PAIRS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G01N29/04

Abstract RU 2380698 C1

FIELD: control instruments.

SUBSTANCE: acoustic emission transducers are mounted on axle and wheel rims. Preliminary tests are conducted to check up acoustic contact of transducers with controlled entity. Signal from electronic simulator is sent to radiating acoustic transducer fitted at wheel axle center. Signals coming to acoustic transducers are received for signal amplitudes to be compared with threshold signal amplitude. In the case of poor acoustic contact said transducers are rearranged and re-tested by loading wheel pair with vertical forces and holding them at this load. Wheel rims are subjected to horizontal load and kept under this load. Then they are unloaded and acoustic emission is recorded to determine time intervals between arrivals of each signal to acoustic emission transducer, which proves the first to receive said signal, and other transducers. Said time intervals are used to determine coordinates of acoustic emission signal source. Now turn through 90 degrees is made for test to be repeated three times.

EFFECT: higher validity.
