FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: there is offered method for determining the primary products of lipid peroxidation in saliva. The method provides sampling the biological material (saliva of an examined patient). The primary products of lipid peroxidation are extracted from the biological fluid with mixed heptane and isopropyl alcohol in the ratio 1:1 to measure their concentration by evaluating the optical density of the extract with a spectrophotometre at wavelength 273 nm. To obtain the concentration data, the molar extinction coefficient 28000 M-1 cm-1 is used.
EFFECT: simplified and more efficient diagnostics of lipid peroxidation processes in an organism.
