FIELD: nonlinear optics.
SUBSTANCE: gas laser with electron beam comprises high-voltage power source, resonator, laser dish located in resonator and filled with work gas that makes an active medium. Said laser dish incorporates electron source representing hollow cathode and anode arranged in hollow cathode to form discharge gap. Dielectric inserts are arranged between cathode and anode with a gap between to make cathode spaces with a size towards laser dish center that ensures the formation of spatial low-gradient potential areas localised between the cathode and dielectric inserts. Anode is made devoid of electron interception.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and output, laser operation with discharge in both pulsed and continuous mode.
