FIELD: quantum electronics; cross-pumped gas lasers. SUBSTANCE: method for producing active medium in gas laser involves following procedures: working medium is introduced in vacuum chamber and excited by pulsed electron beam crossing laser optical axis that arrives from vacuum diode. In the process electron beam-to-gas interaction section is enlarged by providing electron beam current in vicinity of optical axis in beyond-anode area of diode exceeding maximum vacuum value.
