FIELD: physics; optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical sensors designed for measuring deformation of solid bodies and amplitude of movement, and can be used in medicine and metrology. According to the invention, the optical strain gauge consists of optically connected source of pulsed or static optical radiation from a wide or narrow spectral region, multimode light guide and optical detector. The multimode light guide is made from elastic material, on the extending surface of which there are repeating cuts. The multimode light guide can be made from polymer material and can be surrounded by an elastic protective shell. An additional optically connected optical radiation detector can be fitted in the non-deformed region of the multimode light guide near the source of optical radiation.
EFFECT: design of a compact and simple strain gauge which enables detection of deformation on an extended area, and has improved technical characteristics at the same time.
