FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing methods. The method involves the following operations: making an initial disparity map by assigning initial disparity values to each pixel of the reference colour image; determining inaccurate disparity values by analysing structure and detecting obstacles; converting the reference colour image into an image presented in visually uniform colour space; smoothing and improving the initial disparity map based on an averaging weight filter with weights which depend on degree of reliability of disparity, colour and spatial distances; suppression of minor defects of manifestation of texture and impulse noise on the post processing step.
EFFECT: when using the said method, a smoothed disparity map which coincides with boundaries of real objects and which is suitable for making virtual figures is obtained.
