STOP DEVICE FOR DOWNHOLE EQUIPMENT LOWERED ON PIPE STRING Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC E21B17/10 

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to oil and gas producing industry, particularly to devices for attaching process facilities of external equipment to pipe string lowered into well. The stop devise consists of a coupling in form of a ring with internal circular groove and radial openings for receiving a stop element into the groove; the stop element is made in form of a one-side wedge with fixing ribs triangular in cross section. Also in cross section the circular groove of the coupling is made in form of arc and exceeds in width the radial opening located in the middle of the groove. Surface, opposite to inclined plane of the wedge, in cross section is made in form of arc with radius smaller, than radius of the circular groove of the coupling to a value from 2 to 5 %. The stop wedge has a recess at a thickened end of the wedge with an arc-shaped in section side; width and length of the side do not exceed 20% of corresponding dimensions of the wedge. Radial openings for insertion into the groove of the stop element coupling are cut at 45÷90° to a generating line of external surface of the coupling.

EFFECT: upgraded reliability of stop device operation due to increased trigger force.
