FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention is realised with the help of multi-electrode electric capacitance converter (MEC), which makes it possible to perform electric probing of two-phase mixture in various zones of controlled flow, thus executing thereby integration of primary electric capacitance converters. Specified integration is carried out with application of N(N-1)/2 independent capacitance elements in composition of MEC, where N is number of MEC electrodes. At the same time measurements are carried out for N(N-1) output signals of MEC - capacitors between each pair of electrodes - capacitance elements of converter in two specially arranged modes of MEC operation. In process of flow mixture monitoring. Type of water-oil emulsion is automatically detected - whether it is reverse ("water in oil") or straight ("oil in water").

EFFECT: invention provides for increased accuracy and reliability of water-oil mixture composition detection in wide range of oil drowning (from 0 to 100%) under conditions of structural heterogeneity of multiphase flow.
