FIELD: physics; communication.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a method for controlling selection and/or repeated selection of a cell in a communication system which has several cells with which a terminal device can exchange information. The method involves determination of whether the terminal device should begin a communication session for a defined service which uses a certain reception frequency; and on that basis, change of at least one parametre for selecting and/or repeated selection of a cell relative the terminal device. As a result, subsequent selection and/or repeated selection of a cell carried out by that device is done with preference to cells which use the reception frequency used in the said service session compared to other cells.
EFFECT: possibility of keeping user equipment on a preferred MBMS frequency level when criteria for repeated cell selection indicated that the better cell is the one with other carrier frequency, and there is no possibility of inhibiting cells.
