FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1-alkoxy-1-phenylethanes of general formula C6H5CH(CH3)OR (R=CH3, C2H5, n-C3H7, n-C4H9, n-C5H11, n-C6H13, n-C7H15, n-C8H17), which have high thermal stability and can be used as plasticising agents in chlorine-containing polymers and can also be used as a catalyst component in olefin polymerisation and copolymerisation processes. The method involves reacting styrene and alcohols of normal structure ROH, where R is as given above, in the presence of a catalyst - zeolite Y in molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3=6.0-7.0, with an H-shape and molar ratio styrene: alcohol = 1:1-3, temperature 80÷120°C and catalyst amount of 5-10 wt %.
EFFECT: high output of desired products.
