FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to connection of pipes at construction of mains. Ends of pipes are butted and welded. A strengthening coupling is attached to the butt by winding a thin band. There is used a band of isosceles triangle shape. The end of band is welded to surface of pipes by partial weld penetration. Further the band is wound on the butt of pipes with tension. During band winding the first layer of the band is welded to surface of connected pipes with partial weld penetration, while successive layers are welded to each other with spiral seams.
EFFECT: simplification of design, increased strength and reduced labour intensiveness of pipe butt fabrication.
