FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustic engineering and more specifically to active sonar, including active sonars for target detection and measurement of coordinates and motion parametres of detected targets. Increase in accuracy of measuring depth of a target during multibeam transmission of a signal is achieved due to possibility of separating echo signals on separate beams owing to high time resolution, increase in this case of accuracy of measuring delay time of echo signals from the target relative the moment of emission of the probing signal and accuracy of measuring arrival angles of echo signals in the vertical plane, and possibility of measuring the depth of a target using separate beams and averaging results of measuring depth of the target using said beams is also provided.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement of depth of a target during multibeam transmission of a signal in refraction conditions.
