FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to remedy defects in welded seams, e.g. single and multiple gas pores with sizes tolerable in pipes. For this, seam metal is molten in protective atmosphere by electric arc with no filler material and in feeding current pulses with alternating pulse-stop cycles to allow every previous pulse heating zone be overlapped by that of subsequent pulse heating zone. Note here that pipe is rotated relative to electrode at 0.2 to 0.8 rpm.
EFFECT: lower costs, higher quality.
