FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of sulphuric acid from sulphur, particularly to the stage for absorbing sulphur trioxide with sulphuric acid. The absorption installation comprises an absorber, a gas heat exchanger connected to the absorber by a line carrying a gaseous mixture from the absorber, a water heat exchanger, the coolant inlet and outlet of which is connected to a separator drum which has a water inflow line, a circulating collecting tank and an acid cooler. The installation has a removable spray mist trapping device and an additional heat exchanger fitted in series in the line carrying the gaseous mixture from the absorber. The ratio of the heating surface area of the additional heat exchanger, the gas heat exchanger, the acid cooler and the water heat exchanger equals 1:(14-16):(28-30):(36-40).
EFFECT: reduced contamination of the installation with corrosion products which is inevitable in production of sulphuric acid, as well as maintenance of optimum temperature conditions for operation of the installation.
