FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to energy recovery when producing sulphuric acid. The method includes burning a sulphur source in a gas containing excess oxygen; contacting a gas stream containing a gaseous combustion product with a catalyst for converting sulphur dioxide into sulphur trioxide; contacting the obtained conversion gas with a primary absorption liquid containing sulphuric acid; circulating said absorption liquid between a primary absorption zone and an indirect heat exchanger, wherein heat is collected by a liquid heat carrier; contacting the gas stream from the primary absorption zone with a secondary absorption liquid containing sulphuric acid.
EFFECT: invention improves recovery of energy released when absorbing wet SO3 with sulphuric acid.
