FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: liquid coolant (19) is evaporated using heat from a hydrocarbon-rich stream to obtain evaporated coolant (3a-3d). The evaporated coolant (3a-3d) is successively compressed (5) and cooled (10) with ambient air, resulting in complete condensation of the compressed coolant. The completely condensed compressed coolant (12) is further supercooled through indirect heat exchange with an auxiliary coolant circulating in the auxiliary coolant loop. After that the supercooled coolant (16) is expanded (18) to form liquid coolant (19). The auxiliary coolant is selected such that its boiling point is higher than that of the liquid coolant at the same pressure.
EFFECT: use of the invention reduces expenses and increases flow of the cooled stream.
