FIELD: electric engineering.

SUBSTANCE: polymer insulator comprises bearing body, metal reinforcement and protective tracking shell equipped with light indicator. Source of light based on light diode indicates dangerous increase of leakage current, passing through insulator and occurring as a result of higher inner conductivity of insulator. Source of light may be connected directly into splitting of leakage current circuit or via filter that performs specified transformation of leakage current. Source of light may be included into splitting of longitudinal leakage current flowing circuit, and this current flows through bearing body of insulator. Source of light may be connected to the secondary winding of current transformer, the primary winding of which is connected into splitting of leakage current splitting.

EFFECT: possibility to control leakage current through insulator as a whole, through bearing body of insulator in particular.
