FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: lossless audio codec segments audio data within each frame under a limiting condition that, each segment must be completely decoded and must be smaller than the maximum size. For each frame, the codec selects segment duration and coding parametres, e.g. a specific entropy coder and its parametres for each segment, which minimise the coded payload for the entire frame under the condition of the given limitations. For each channel, a distinguishing set of coding parametres can be selected, or for call channels, a global set of coding parametres can be selected. Compression efficiency can be further increased by creating M/2 decorrelated channels for an M-channel audio signal. A triplet of channels, consisting of main, correlated and decorrelated channels, provides two possible combinations of pairs from the main and correlated channels and the main and decorrelated channels, which can be taken into account when optimising segmentation and entropy coding.
EFFECT: more efficient compression.
