FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of making oxygen-conducting ceramic material based on lanthanum gallate relates to chemical synthesis, specifically to self-propagating high-temperature synthesis using ethylene glycol, and can be used in making solid electrolytes based on lanthanum gallate. The initial reagents used include a mixture of nitrates of lanthanum, strontium, gallium and magnesium, taken in proportions required for the selected composition. Combustible substance used is ethylene glycol, which is added to the mixture of nitrates in amounts which satisfy the ratio of nitro groups in the mixture of nitrates to ethylene glycol NO3/(HOCH2)2=2/1-2/1.2. The obtained mixture is heated to 50°C, kept until formation of a homogeneous gel and then heated to temperature of the onset of the self-propagating reaction which is close to 100°C, at the end of which the product is ground up and calcined at 900-1000°C. An object is then moulded and terminal calcinations is carried out at 1200-1350°C for 1-8 hours.
EFFECT: obtaining high-density ceramic materials and improved physical and chemical properties.
