FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: channel state information (CSI) can be used in a communication system for preliminary setup of transmission between transmitting and receiving devices. In one aspect of the invention, transmission antennae in the transmitting device are assigned sets of different sub-channels. Check characters are generated and transmitted on the subset of separate sub-channels. After reception of the transmitted check characters, receiving devices determine CSI for separate sub-channels which delivered the check characters. These CSI values are sent to the transmitting device which will use them to create CSI evaluations for separate sub-channels which did not carry check characters. Amount of information necessary for sending CSI over a return communication line can further be reduced using compression techniques and allocating resources.
EFFECT: more efficient evaluation of a communication channel.
