FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-temperature furnaces operated at temperatures of up to 3000°C. Electric heating element is made from foil based on thermally expanded graphite. Proposed method comprises shaping workpiece made from at least one woven cord produced from aluminium foil reinforced by cotton or carbon thread, impregnating said workpiece with pitch, carbonisation and subsequent pyrolytic compaction of workpiece to produce electric heating element. Said impregnation and carbonisation are effected several times.
EFFECT: ease of manufacture, higher mechanical strength, stable operating properties and longer life.
