MULTILAYER CARBON MATERIAL Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC B32B5/18

Abstract RU 2734218 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to low-density carbon heat-insulating materials, which can be used as lining of high-temperature furnaces with non-oxidant medium and relates to multilayer carbon material. Material includes a carbon foam layer formed from phenol resin reinforced with carbon particles, intermediate layers and carbon-based outer layers. Foam layer is made combined of three layers consisting of central foamed layer with density of 0.01–0.02 g/cm3, mesh size 1–2 mm, with the content therein of the particles of carbon black 5–7 % coupled mutual penetration in the point of contact with the two sides adjacent foamed layers with density 0.04–0.07 g/cm3, cell size 0.5–0.7 mm, with technical carbon particles content in them of 33–35 %, and intermediate layers are made of carbon nonwoven material with density of 0.10–0.14 g/cm3, outer layers are made of graphite foil with density of 0.9–1.1 g/cm3 at the following ratio of layers: outer layer of graphite foil : intermediate layer of carbon nonwoven material : adjacent foamed layer : central foamed layer : adjacent foamed layer : intermediate layer of carbon nonwoven material : outer layer of graphite foil, equal to 1:4:7:10:7:4:1.

EFFECT: invention reduces thermal conductivity owing to redistribution of material densities from the outer layer of graphite foil to intermediate layers of carbon nonwoven material and the combined foam layer, providing simultaneous distribution of incoming heat flow and its reflection with large pores of central foam layer formed from phenol resin with technical carbon at high strength of multilayer carbon material.
