FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves manufacture of semi-finished product with allowance for mechanical treatment, stretch flattening and mechanical treatment of semi-finished product. Semi-finished product is made by pressing with staged variable cross-section. Staged variable cross-section is formed with rectangular sections of uniform cross-section, the sizes of which are changed in steps from section to section in accordance with change of the item variable cross-section. Stretch flattening is performed for each section of the semi-finished product. Allowance for mechanical treatment is performed on condition that the metal layer deformed with gripping jaws is completely removed.
EFFECT: increasing efficiency and quality of flattening of items, reducing their metal consumption.
