FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical instrument making and is designed for investigating irregularities in transparent media and obtaining an image of gradient objects. The method involves illuminating a real medium with pulsed radiation of a neodymium laser 1, space-time selection of back scattering radiation through the shutter 7 of a television chamber 4, synchronised with the pulse mode of the laser, obtaining images in the plane of a CCD matrix 5 of the television chamber with finite distance, defined by a given time selection mode, restriction of side beams in the focal plane of the lens 3 of the television chamber in order to increase image contrast. Further, the obtained image is viewed and recorded on the display of a personal computer. The viewing process is done through an illuminator 10.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain images of optical irregularities in a medium from long distances in dynamic mode and in unlimited volume of the analysed medium.
