FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus has a single-mode laser, a lens, a self-guided Zernike filter mounted in the back focal plane of the lens, and an image recording system. The self-guided Zernike filter is in form of a layer of absorbent substance whose thickness is not greater than the length of the neck of the focused beam of probing radiation, having a property of decreasing absorption coefficient under the action of the radiation as a result of the bleaching effect. The radiation source used is a continuous wave laser or a pulsed laser which can radiate over a given time interval, wherein the radiation pulse is turned on ahead of exposure time by a time required to guide the filter, and turned off at the end of exposure time of the recording device.
EFFECT: enabling use of a phase-contrast method on apparatus characterised by presence of vibrations.
