FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser engineering and is meant for use mainly in a gas laser. The annular optical resonator has a system of mirrors which form an optical axis in form of a closed broken line. Mirrors of the system are fitted along the surface of an annular cavity formed by cylindrical coaxial surfaces. The mirrors are arranged such that they form an optical axis in the cross-section perpendicular the axis of the coaxial cylindrical surfaces, where the said optical axis is in form of a closed broken line whose sections intersect the annular cavity.
EFFECT: design of an optical resonator which enables minimisation of the weight and size characteristics of gas lasers, and improve their manufacturability.
