SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method and a device for controlling transmission power for a fractional-dedicated physical channel (F-DPCH) in a 3rd generation mobile telephone system which uses HSDPA, in particular for user equipment during soft handover. User equipment receives error rate R for TPC commands for setting up the SIR target value as the maximum of the weight function of the error rate of the TPC commands of the radio channel during soft handover. In accordance with selection of weights in the weight function, user equipment can set up its SIR target value in a certain ratio so that all radio channels can support BER TPC less or equal to the target BER TPC set up by the network. User equipment can also select weight provided that the target TPC error rate is only met in the service HS-DSCH.
EFFECT: more efficient reception of the SIR target value by user equipment.
