FIELD: means of communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to control of power levels of transmitted signals in mobile communication systems with extended spectrum. Methods and devices are intended for improving the precision time of the reference value of signal-interference ratio (SIR) calculated in the outer power control loop in order to be used in inner power control loop. Instead of the error rate information taken into account, the other information is also considered individually for each transport channel in order to determine SIR reference value, for example quality information from other transport channels and block rate information for each channel. By considering such information, the improved outer power control loop is realised, which provides reduction of the power required for physical connection, and increasing communication system capacity.
