FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of removing residual acetaldehyde from polyester particles. Polyester particles containing residual acetaldehyde are fed into a reactor at 130-190 °C to form a layer of particles inside the reactor. At least a gas is passed through part of the layer of particles with gas flow rate not greater than 0.15 SCFM per pound of particles per hour and outlet of particles with low content of residual acetaldehyde from the reactor.
EFFECT: method enables efficient removal of acetaldehyde at low flow rate and low temperature of the gas, as well as prevention of solid-phase polymerisation.
