FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: mobile communication system includes a base station which supplies a packet, a communication terminal which discontinuously receives a packet from the base station in discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles, each having an active period and a standby period. The communication terminal receives from the base station configured information for the DRX service which contains DRX cycle length. Establishment of a point when the first packet is received by the base station as the initial point of the DRX cycle is done. The packet is received from the base station during the active period at the beginning of the initial point. Switch to standby period is done and the next active period is waited for.

EFFECT: efficient reception of packets and reduced transmission delays in a mobile communication system which supports discontinuous reception mode.
