FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mixes used to produce tablets from powder zinc oxide. It can be used as an additive in nuclear reactor cooling water systems to reduce radioactive contamination by isotope 60Co. Proposed mix comprises, in wt %: polyvinyl alcohol - 0.64…0.72; polyethylene glycol - 0.41…0.44; water - 32.68…35.65: hexane - 4.66…5.49; stearic acid - 0.24…0.28 and zinc oxide makes the rest.
EFFECT: proposed mix allows producing tablets with density approximating to 83%, reducing mix drying time and increasing tablet yield to 90%.
