FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in synthesis of calcium or magnesium carbonate used in varnish and paint, paper, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry. To obtain CaCO3 or MgCO3, an aqueous suspension of starting material containing calcium or magnesium silicate is brought into contact with a CO2 containing gas to obtain an aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 and solid Ca- or Mg-depleted starting material. All the obtained aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 or a portion thereof is separated from the Ca- or Mg-depleted starting material. CaCO3 or MgCO3 are precipitated from the separated aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 and extracted as the end product. A method of preparing an aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 is also proposed.
EFFECT: invention reduces expenses on recycling free carbon dioxide gas to obtain highly pure calcium or magnesium carbonates.
