FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves exposure of mineral particles to pulsed high energy in form of microwave energy when the particles are in a moving layer. The moving layer mixes particles such that at least essentially all particles are exposed to at least a certain effect of the microwave energy. A unit for realising the method has a source of pulsed high energy in form of microwave energy and a device for moving the layer of mineral particles through the zone(s) of the effect of the microwave source such that when used, all particles are exposed to microwave energy. The device for moving the layer of mineral particles has an auger-type or some other suitable feeding device which moves particles at a controlled speed from an end with an inlet opening to the end with an outlet opening.
EFFECT: efficient processing of mineral material and simple design of the device.
