FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of measuring temperature in welding area includes installation of thermocouples. Articles are clamped in a jaw assembly and heated using current. Temperature is measured using thermocouples which are installed in channels parallel to the surface of the article. During measurement, the thermocouple junction is pressed to the surface of the article through a calibration orifice at the bottom of the channel, perpendicular the surface of the article towards the article using a spring with an insulating spacer or screw with possibility of it entering the body of the article when clamped by the jaw assembly. After fitting leads of the thermocouples, channels parallel surfaces of the jaw assembly and the article are filled with a refractory rapid-hardening mixture of marshalite and hydrolysed ethyl silicate.
EFFECT: optimisation of techniques for fast and accurate installation of thermocouples before welding in order to use measured temperature as a control parametre when controlling the welding process.
