FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of identifying tryptophan in a sample solution involves deposition of the sample solution and a reagent onto a paper test strip, drying the test strip and determination of presence of tryptophan from change in colour of the test strip. The object used is an isatin solution and the test sample used is a mixture of α-amino acids. The test strip is pre-soaked with an ammonium acetate buffer solution to pH 3-11 and then dried.
EFFECT: selectivity of identifying tryptophan in a mixture of amino acids of different composition.
